Are they ready for it? Azraq initiated the Lead Ambassadors Program with the intention of getting university students involved in our mission and objectives. We would like to provide our Lead Ambassadors the opportunity of becoming sustainability advisers, where they can educate students at their universities about sustainability and eco-friendly practices on behalf of Azraq. As a Lead Ambassador, you have the opportunity to support the operations team members at Azraq in their daily tasks and get a better understanding of the behind-the-scenes work of a non-profit organisation.

The Lead Ambassadors Program has been developed as an extension of the Youth Ambassadors program at Azraq in order to promote mentorship, partnership, and leadership development. As a Lead Ambassador, you will be required to mentor one to two Youth Ambassadors during your time at Azraq. Your job is to educate, motivate, and activate our youth ambassadors through getting them involved in Azraq’s different workshops, presentation and campaigns. Azraq’s operation team members will pair mentors and mentees according to their personal and professional interests and allow them to create their own schedule and goals.

Lead Ambassadors must participate in the below:

  • Be involved in one to two events in one semester.

  • Partake in one promotional outreach or presentation a semester.

  • Partake in one to two clean-ups at your local beach and take footage for social media.

  • One to two of our stalls a semester to help promote general information to the public.

    Once you have completed all of the above criteria, Azraq will provide you with Certificate of Acknowledgement to recognize the work you have done with us.

SELECTiON CRITERIA

  • Students from UAE universities (undergraduate) ages 18-24 years.

  • Passionate about sustainability, the environment, and the community with a willingness to learn.

  • Strong presentation and communication skills.

  • Reliable and dedicated.

  • Complete online application with a follow-up interview explaining reasons for enrolling in the program.

Application Process

  • Opening Date: [March 14th]

  • Closing Date: [May 14th]

  • Cap: 10 Ambassadors

  • Complete online application below.

  • Follow-up Interview with the Education Team.

  • Registration with the Community Development Authority (CDA).

  • Active Member Registration (if accepted into the program).

  • Induction Process

  • Individuals accepted into the program will start in the new Academic Year (September 2021)

OCEAN AMBASSADORS

Azraq’s Ocean Ambassadors are leading the call to protect and conserve the oceans using their experience and platform built through art, acting, adventure and abilities. Our Ocean Ambassadors recognise the responsibility we all have to protect one of Earth’s most valuable assets.

Healthy oceans provide the air we breathe, drinking water, help to sequester carbon so we can avoid the worst effects of climate change, provide food security for billions of people and are a great recreational playground for billions of people. Wherever we are in the world, what happens to the oceans affects us all.

BECOME AN OCEAN AMBASSADOR

If you are seen as a leader in your area of expertise, with an established platform, influencing and motivating people, seen as a bright shining star setting a trend and you have a genuine passion for ocean conservation, we would be interested in speaking with you. Below are some examples of how you may be able to get involved:


EDUCATE

  • Help to promote general information and events

  • Get involved in providing a presentation to a school or group of people

  • Partake in our stalls, selling eco-friendly merchandise and providing information to the public

MOTIVATE

  • Host a movie screening or be involved as a speaker

  • Create content that we can cross-promote

  • Participate in an Azraq mission

  • Assist with building additional partnerships or sponsorship opportunities

ACTIVATE

  • Get involved in our beach cleans or host a beach clean up day

  • Get involved with our mangrove tree planting day or host a mangrove tree planting session

  • Get involved with our team building sessions or our strategy planning days

Are they ready for it? At Azraq, we are acutely aware that it is the actions that we take today, which will impact the youth of tomorrow. Given this, we have decided to place youth at the forefront of our decision making; giving them a seat at the table and a voice when it comes to making decisions on behalf of Azraq’s operations.

The Ocean Youth Ambassador role is for people aged between 10 and 18 years residing in the United Arab Emirates who are passionate about the oceans and in making positive sustainable changes in their community. They must demonstrate good communication skills and must be passionate about solving today’s most pressing problems while working to engage their fellow peers in this important agenda.

Azraq’s Ocean Youth Ambassadors will learn to":

  • become actors of change for the oceans

  • design and develop communication campaigns around ocean issues

  • reach out and engage local communities

  • maximise the impact of Azraq’s activities through content (ie: articles, videos. blogs etc)

  • know the skills it takes to be a sustainability leader that makes a difference

  • lead by example

Azraq’s Ocean Youth Ambassadors will:

  • be coached by an Azraq member

  • assist to develop campaigns and actions addressing the sustainable challenges faced by the ocean

  • engage with schools to contribute to building a generation that makes a difference

  • have the opportunity to present your work at major events.
