Our clean ups can be undertaken anywhere within the United Arab Emirates, with the permission of the landowner. We have partnered with various Government agencies throughout the United Arab Emirates as well as private organisations to assist with providing a multitude of options for your organisation.

Each clean up brings with it a different experience. Public beaches in Dubai for example are focussed mainly on cigarette butts, while Umm Al Qwain, Ras Al Khimah, Sharjah and desert clean ups provide another experience all together with a focus on plastic bags, plastic water bottles and other marine debris. In Ajman we can offer mangrove tree planting and kayaking and then there are the fun nurdle hunting initiatives in Abu Dhabi with our hotel partners on Sadiyaat Island.

For in-water activities, we have partnered with providers of scuba diving equipment, snorkelling equipment, stand up paddle boards, kayaks and rigid inflatable boats to undertake clean ups, but please bear in mind that these are generally for smaller groups up to 30 people.

Corporate packages start at just AED 1,500 for a 30 minute marine conservation presentation and Certificate of Participation for your company.

We get it! Organising corporate days, activities and events during a pandemic is near on impossible. Covid-19 has thrown a curveball that very few people saw coming. We know you and your organisation still care. We know you still want to give back to the community and though there were some initial environmental benefits due to the reduction in emissions, the newest strain of coronavirus, which has seen face coverings now become a legal requirement in many public spaces around the world, has caused litter problems on land and at sea.

One February beach clean in Hong Kong alone found 70 masks along 100 metres of shoreline, with 30 more appearing a week later.

This is why our team, made up of committed and passionate community members, are still going out regularly, cleaning up the waterways and urban environment any which way that they can. In fact one clean up, with just two people in one hour, resulted in two hessian sacks full of debris, weighing over 30 kilograms, consisting mainly of beverage bottles, plastic bags and sadly disposable face masks.

So how can you get involved in this?

Given that most of our usual large-group activities are on hold, why not sponsor our beach and underwater clean up, or mangrove tree planting teams? Or if you prefer, why not consider sponsoring a coral reef survey. These activities will be done in your company name, you will be provided a presentation to your team ahead of the activity, our teams will provide the equipment (bags, gloves, etc) and necessary permits and will provide your organisation with photographs in addition to providing details of the activity in an impact report. You can even choose to have selected representatives from your organisation attend!

Socially Shy Clean Up Package

Costs: From 3,500 AED (for pre-recorded presentation), 4,500 AED for live presentation

• Can be undertaken across the United Arab Emirates, with permission of the landowner.

• Includes the cost of bag, gloves, transportation of Azraq team members and permits.

• Can have up to two representatives attend from your organisation, arrange branding and take footage.

• Photographs provided to your organisation with details of the items collected.*

• Presentation provided to the organisation online prior to the clean up via Zoom, Microsoft Teams or provided as a pre-record.

• Corporate logo, tees, caps and hand-held banners can be used in the photo and consideration can be given to have your corporate logo included on Azraq tees worn by the crew on one of the sleeves (costs excluded in price).

• Clean up can be done, on, in and around the waterways of the United Arab Emirates.

ADOPT A CORAL NURSERY

Costs: From 6,000 AED - (for online presentation), 6,500 AED for live presentation (includes a one-year maintenance fee of 2,000).

Sponsor the creation of a 2.4m x 1.2m coral nursery table made from broken coral fragments from the seafloor. These fragments then are grown on the table until they are ready to be transported onto an artificial reef or into a damaged area of the reef to help it return to health. The nursery table would be identified with your corporate logo and will be maintained for twelve months after and you will be able to get monthly updates via a specific website built exclusively regarding the ecological contribution of the nursery and are sent a certificate of appreciation from Team Azraq.

ADOPT AN ARTIFICIAL REEF

From 5,000 AED (includes a 45-min presentation and a one-year maintenance fee of 2,000 AED).

Sponsor the creation of an artificial reef which will transform a sandy area into populous reef ecosystems that can create and sustain a board variety of species. Structures are built from ocean-friendly materials (which can even be a corporate design or company name depending on complexity and if it conforms to design guidelines) or it can be built from a catalogue, which includes various sea creatures such as sharks, turtles, seahorses and manta rays in three different sizes:

• LARGE - Around 8m long - 7,500 AED

• MEDIUM - Around 4m long - 6,000 AED

• SMALL - Around 2m long - 5,000 AED

The artificial reef will be maintained and measured for twelve months and you will be able to get monthly updates via a specific website built exclusively regarding the ecological contribution of the reef.

Any photography or videography is done via smartphones, suitable for an online environment. Should your organisation wish to have professional photography done at the clean up, this must be arranged externally and any costs borne by the organisation.

• All organisations who book a CSR activity will receive a certificate of participation and a presentation relating to their activity.

• Azraq can also discuss opportunities for small numbers of employees undertaking dolphin and turtle surveys with our partners in Abu Dhabi

* * Cancellation Policy regarding booking fees for public beach cleans:

100% refundable if no action taken to progress beach clean including, but not limited to, seeking permits and waste removal, arranging presentation and undertaking a site visit

50% refundable if action take to progress activity including, but not limited to, seeking permits and waste removal, arranging presentation and undertaking a site visit within 15 days or more of the activity

Non-refundable if cancelled fourteen or less days prior to the activity.
